HAWTHORN FAMILY ASSESSMENT AND SUPPORT CENTRE

* Hawthorn is seeking to recruit a full time Parenting Support
Worker/Assistant Psychologist for our Family Assessment and Support
Centre.
* We are also recruiting for live night duty staff to work in the
service on full time/part-time basis.
* We are also looking to recruiting a dynamic, enthusiastic relief
panel to support the service. These hours include waking nights and
day shifts.

Hawthorn provides residential family based assessments and
interventions to parents who face difficulties in caring for their
children.

THE PARENTING SUPPORT WORKER ROLE INVOLVES:

* Formally assessing the needs of children and families who are at
risk.
* Maintaining a high level of observation, recording, communication
and assessment of family interaction and parental motivation.
* Supporting parents to build on their parenting skills and their
relationships with their children by providing guidance and advice
which promotes the welfare of the child and remains in their best
interest.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

* Candidates must have at a minimum, a B.A. in Social Care or the
equivalent in a related discipline for the post of Parenting Support
Worker.
* Knowledge of current legislation and standards relating to Child
Protection.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Family Assessment and Support.
* Candidates should show a clear commitment to supporting vulnerable
children and their families.
* Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written
and oral.

THE ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGIST ROLE INVOLVES:

* Assisting the family assessment worker in completing an initial and
ongoing assessment of families? needs so that you can identify and
plan the support needed to address concerns and prevent any problems
from escalating.
* Maintaining a high level of observation, recording, communication
and assessment of family interaction and parental motivation.
* To operate within the Psychological Society of Ireland?s Code of
Ethics.
* To facilitate/co-facilitate psychoeducational groups and 1:1
workshops with families.
* Clinical supervision is provided as part of our Assistant
Psychology programme with regular contact from our supervising
Psychologist.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

* Candidates must have at a Master?s Degree in Psychology.
* Knowledge of current legislation and standards relating to Child
Protection.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Family Assessment and Support.
* Candidates should show a clear commitment to supporting vulnerable
children and their families.
* Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written
and oral.

staff should be self-motivated, flexible, be able to relate to people,
have good communication and organisation skills, work as part of a
team and have a commitment to working with children and their
families.
